JUNE 2021

We are collecting donations the beginning of each month that will then be delivered to the Food Bank.

Items like canned soup, pasta, formula, peanut butter, and canned tuna are always appreciated and will  go on to feed those in need in our community!

You can drop off donations on the designated days between the hours of 9AM - Noon JUNE 7TH AND 8TH 2021!

If you want, you can also make a donation to the food bank through McKillop by sending a cheque (or just sliding it into our mail slot) or etransfer (judy@mckillopunited.ca).

We will take care of sending it to the Food Bank, and the donation

counts toward your 2021 contributions tax reciept.

4C's Cooking Show Last Episode!

We are thrilled to have been able to partner with the LSCO for a cooking show series, the 4C's.

This is a play on the pre-covid program the 3C's (Cooking, Conversation, and Companionship) Covid added itself in as the 4th C and we have adapted!

In this week's episode we get to watch along as our very own Trevor Potter prepares a mouth-watering comfort food: Salmon Chowder!

This is the fourth and final episode of the series.

Trevor also prepared last week's Chilli Cumin Dal with Kashmiri Korma including showing us how to dry roast our own spices!

Virtual Hospice: Inclusive Palliative Care

Inclusive Palliative Care.png

People who identify as Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (or questioning) or other identities (2SLGBTQ+) often face discrimination and other barriers to accessing respectful, inclusive healthcare.

This can be particularly difficult when living with an advanced illness or being a caregiver to someone with palliative care needs. Until now, there were no resources to help navigate these challenges.

These new resources are useful for people who identify as 2SLGBTQ+, allies, families, chosen families, healthcare providers, health systems, and communities to enhance understanding of challenges, improve care, and mobilize for positive change.
Explore virtualhospice.ca/2SLGBTQ

In collaboration with 40 Canadian 2SLGBTQ+ organizations, Canadian Virtual Hospice launched Proud, Prepared and Protected during National Hospice Palliative Care Week. More than 100 people who identify as 2SLGBT+ helped create articles, videos, interactive guides, and more.
